Backyard Basketball 2004

5 stars (super!!!) - this is a really cool game but, it wouldn't save my stuff.maybe it's just my comp or game. other than that evry thing is super 5 stars (GREAT!) - The game is nice.It is very easy.I also like the pros.It is a rearly good game. 4 stars (Good, But Not Great) - This is a good game, but I have a few reccomendations and I have found a few flaws. Here is a list of them. Mr.Clanky - It is cool that you unlock him after you win the backyard world series but you can`t put him on your normal team, in fact you can only use him in a single game! players - they are basicly good but their skill ratings are a little off on a few of them, for instance a person who the game says is great at batting, like Barry Bonds can really be pretty bad at it. trading - I haven`t gotten far but I am pretty confident that there is not and will not be a trading option, and i think that it would be cool if you could trade with other players or the computer. skills - It would be nice if your players skill ratings increased with the experience they get from games. graphics - The graphics are ok but not anything special. I think this is a good game and that is why I gave it four stars, so I can`t wait to get the upcoming versions. ...

The Last Shot - City Streets- Basketball Dreams

5 stars (For Any One Who Truly Cares) - This book was the best written and best depicted book I have ever read. From the beginning it was raw and real. For any one who truly cares about and loves basketball this is a must read. This is as raw and real as it gets in the basketball world. 5 stars (Four inner city kids looking for a way out) - This is probably the best book i have ever read. What it lacked in description in made up for in plot. I never wanted to put this book down! I was amazed at some of the hardships these kids go to, and reading this book can really onpen ones mind. You will be truly inspired and facisinated as i recommend this book to even people with little interest in basketball. I also must say that Stephon Marbury was not a character that was portayed with detail in this book, and you were not overly intersted to know what would become of him. 4 stars (Good story, could have been a great book with better writing) - I found this to be an interesting story and a pretty good book. I thought the descriptions of the coaches' recruiting antics were very enlightening and well written. Being able to use some of the real names, particularly very well known ones such as Stephon Marbury and Jim Boeheim, added a lot to the credibility of the book. Where I found this work to be lacking was in the descriptive writing. Really good writers construct word pictures that are vivid and allow the reader to better experience the story being told. I didn't find the writing quality in this book that would have made me rate it a 5 star effort. This author's style seemed to me to be more like a newspaper reporter's - limited to a fixed amount of space and more focused on the basics than the aesthetics. Outstanding books also need to deliver the aesthetics in the form of well painted word pictures. I wish this book had been stronger in that area. ...

The Last Season- A Team In Search of Its Soul

3 stars (Zen, Ego, Fame) - Good book. Subject matter is interesting. Coach Jackson is likeable but his writing is lacking. This was the author's inward look at a season filled with surprises, peaks, and valleys. The irony is that he is returning to coach the Lakers next season and this book will act as the giant elephant in the room that nobody will want to talk about. Outside of the obvious issues: Kobe's ego, lockerroom dissension, etc... This is your typical "a season in" diary of a sports team, with all the ebbs and flows that playing in the NBA provides. Jackson offers few poignant observations about the league that a serious fan doesn't already know or suspect. Still valuable as a worthy document of a popular and polarizing sports franchise. 4 stars (Good Book) - If you like reading about grown men act like a bunch of whiney women this is your book. This book should be call "Phil Jackson my last year of babysitting" 5 stars (The BOLD truth) - First of all this books kicks ass, for any real lakers/shaq fan. What else can I say other than, Phil and Kobe wont get along...again. Kobe is EVIL! ...

Coaching Youth Basketball- A Baffled Parent-s Guide

5 stars (A PRACTICAL AND QUICK STUDY GUIDE) - I played a lot of basketball before taking on coaching my 6 year olds' team, but I had never coached. I digested the basics of this book in about an hour and it was a roadmap to get me started. I keep reading and using it as the season progresses. Very very good for first-time coaches for kids leagues of about 5-13 years old. 5 stars (Only One Book Needed) - I struggled looking for a book written for the experienced youth coach who doesn't know much about basketball. I coach four youth sports, but I never played organized basketball. I was at a loss for drills, plays and defensive philosophies. This book gave me a huge head start and Coach Faucher's style is easy and right for the kids. I enjoy planning and running my basketball practices far more than any other sport now. Thanks Coach Faucher. Do you have one for football, . . baseball, . . soccer?????? 3 stars (Not Rocket Science) - I read this book because I thought that it would help me coach a group of 5th graders in the fundamentals of basketball. I did not learn anything new after reading this book, but I also have played basketball for many years. What was valuable to me was the drills made available. If you know nothing of basketball you'll appreciate this book. ...

Leading with the Heart - Coach K-s Successful Strategies for Basketball- Business- and Life

5 stars (Not just for basketball...) - This book is for any coach of any sport who wants to be inspired! You don't have to be a Duke fan to appreciate what Coach K has to say and what ideas he has for unifying a team and being successful no matter if you're winning or losing. I highly recommend this to any coach! 1 stars (Coach K, no way) - I would have to agree with Mr. Utz. This book may be good for bathroom reading. Well, maybe not so much for reading, but wiping your bum with the pages. It was like someone took a giant poo on each page. I would suggest more refined reading.... A Coach's Life (Random House Large Print) by Dean Smith. 3 stars (More about basketball and coaching than leadership) - As one who is interested in leadership development, I was disapointed in this book. For those of you who are coaches of athletic teams this book will be usefull. For those who are looking at leadership for business, government etc, there are likely better books out there that cover the subject minus the glory of the Duke basketball team. ...

The Miracle of St Anthony- A Season with Coach Bob Hurley and Basketball-s Most Improbable Dynasty

5 stars (best sports book i ever read) - what a great book. Bob Hurley is not a perfect human being but the good he does is incredible. By far the best and most moving sports book I ever read. 5 stars (Can't Wait for the Movie) - As a high school baseball and basketball coach, this book is a must read. I could't put the book down. It is an easy read which gives those in suburbia a glimpse of America not often seen. Bob Hurley, the man,the father, the husband, the coach is a true American hero. Coaches, parents, administrators, and athletes can learn much from this well told story. I can't wait to see the movie! 4 stars (Great Story - Cumbersome Writing) - Anyone who's read John Feinstein's "A Season on the Brink" will find this story very familiar. Just as Feinstein chronicled a year with Bob Knight at Indiana, Adrian Wojnarowski spent a year with the basketball team of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, NJ. The result is a very compelling story of a small band of sincere and dedicated educators using basketball to teach character and life lessons to a group of kids from the tough streets of Jersey City. For many of these young men, Coach Bob Hurley is the only authority figure they know and his tough style provides them with a standard to reach for on the court, perhaps the only time in their lives they've been pushed out of their comfort zones. Mixed in with these products of the inner city is Sean McCurdy from suburban Connecticut whose mother moves him to Jersey City in the belief that Hurley can attract the Division I college scholarship that she seems to think is Sean's birthright. Cindy McCurdy is every youth coach's nightmare, the quintessential little league parent. My only criticism of "The Miracle of St. Anthony" is in Wojnarowski's annoying pattern of giving a mini life story of every secondary character in the story. Of course, as a sports columnist, Wojnarowski makes a living going off on tangents, so this shouldn't be a surprise. Bu...
